Plantation blinds – Plantation shutters were once meant to protect windows from the sun, rain and rough weather while providing much needed ventilation for housing. Wooden shutters are often found in antique shops or architectural element outputs provide a blank slate for unique projects throughout the house. Shutters are not just for exterior windows any more.
Create the appearance of a window where there is none. Install plantation blinds to the wall to frame an enlarged photograph of an outdoor stage or wall mural. This is the great trick to use in a room without windows or a nice touch for a look over a garden tub or kitchen table.

Plantation Blinds screen divider
Make a screen divider three rooms paneled with old plantation blinds. Choose blinds that are high. Blinds five to six feet tall work best. Strip or paint the shutters in any style that suits you. Blinds work well when done in a distressed or weathered look but are equally impressive when painted with high gloss paint in the color of your choice. After painting the shutters, attach each individual to another shutter hinges of your local hardware store. Screen where you need to add a touch of whimsy or drama.
